Ms. Gail Starr is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Diabetes Educator. She has been in private practice for more than twenty years, with special focus on emotional issues related to diabetes, chronic illness, eating disorders, and depression. In addition, she also has worked extensively in the treatment of women and senior patients.

I have learned over the years from my patients that the ones who do best are the ones who are motivated to make changes in their lives. I help them find their motivation by asking useful questions, finding out what’s most important to them, and assisting them in realizing their hopes and dreams for the future.

Ms. Starr held the position of counselor and diabetes educator in the Diabetes Care Unit at South Miami Hospital, South Miami, Florida, integrating her skills as a licensed psychotherapist with her clinical knowledge of diabetes and endocrine disorders. Ms. Starr has achieved considerable recognition helping patients navigate the deep emotional waters of chronic illness. She blends her specialized skills, training and expertise as a certified diabetes educator and a licensed clinical social worker to her work with clients living with diabetes and other chronic illnesses.

Ms. Starr has presented her treatment methods and concepts at numerous professional conferences, trainings and seminars, both national and regional. Her practice includes not only direct therapy services but also providing educational services to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the management of persons with diabetes and other forms of chronic illness, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.

Among other groups, Ms. Starr is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, The American Association of Diabetes Educators, and the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals.
